Every year, military community members show how much they care with their generosity through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). Federal pledges to international charities help solve some of the most difficult challenges across the globe. Most notably, the military community has made a huge impact on addressing hunger, responding to disasters and protecting children through the CFC. And this year, that was needed more than ever.

Global Impact (#10187) charity partners are working across the globe to combat the rising hunger crisis and are consistently some of the first to be on the ground following a disaster. Your continued commitment mobilizes charities like these:

Heifer International (CFC #12079) works globally, alongside communities, providing livestock and training in sustainable agricultural practices to create the most favorable opportunity for families.

In the face of this year’s supply chain issues and rising inflation, Heifer’s partnerships and programs were vital in communities where food security isn’t a given. Farmers with support from Heifer have been able to produce their own food, making it more available locally and providing a steady income for families.

Save the Children (CFC #12085) does whatever it takes – every day and in times of crisis – transforming children’s lives and the future we share.

This year, millions of people were forced to flee from Ukraine after the conflict escalated in February and millions more have been displaced internally. Save the Children has been there since the war began to help transition families in neighboring countries and supply essentials like food and hygiene products. In addition to meeting the immediate needs of refugee families, Save the Children is providing mental health support for more long-term wellbeing.

The Salvation Army World Service Office (SAWSO) (CFC #12084) has a presence in 131 countries to improve the health, economic, educational and spiritual conditions of the world’s most vulnerable.

One of the biggest climate disasters we saw this year was the flooding in Pakistan. Concern for hunger and health increased as flooded land reduced crop supplies and increased the likelihood for disease. Many Pakistanis also lost income because of ruined crops. The Salvation Army supplied urgent needs with food and hygiene donations to families affected by the floods.

UNICEF USA (CFC #12182) reaches children where needs are greatest, immediately responding when emergencies strike, investing in innovative solutions to the problems and advocating for their well being.

UNICEF is addressing widespread malnutrition in the Horn of Africa caused by drought and food price increases this year. It is especially unfortunate that the effects of climate change are felt most in countries like Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia, that contribute the least to global emissions. In addition to providing treatments for acute malnutrition, UNICEF is improving safe water access and strengthening health services to support humanitarian efforts in the area.

World Food Program USA (CFC #10804) builds support within the U.S. for the United Nations World Food Programme, the world’s largest humanitarian organization, to feed the world’s hungriest people.

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) continues to serve the people of Afghanistan after the rapid economic collapse following the fall of the government last year. WFP ramped up lifesaving operations across Afghanistan to reach and distribute food to 23 million people. The agency also remains committed to long-term development activities, from building roads and bridges to empowering women with vocational training.

This year, we faced new and unique challenges with the economy, the climate and conflict. Each charity example is a reminder that while these stories unfold in different corners of the world, we are all a part of the same global community. Also included in the examples above are stories of relief, support and hope. Much of that is thanks to the generosity of the federal community in the 2021 CFC.

As a pressing need continues for humanitarian aid around the world, your 2023 CFC pledge can provide solutions to these critical issues. Show your support for global programs like these by donating to one (or more!) of Global Impact’s trusted charity partners through the CFC.

You can be the face of change by choosing to give global to one (or more!) of these charities with your 2022 CFC pledge. Learn more and Give CFC.
