After 13 years of service, Navy Surface Warfare Officer Michael Logan was thinking about his next steps. He knew he wanted to earn a master’s degree that would set him apart for advancement in the Navy or open new doors for a civilian career when he decided to retire. During a shore tour assignment traveling around the country to evaluate Navy ROTC programs, he did just that. He earned his master’s in Global Business Management 100% online from The University of Alabama – a program recently ranked 10th for online graduate business programs by U.S. News & World Report (2019) and fourth for online master’s in management programs by TheBestSchools.org (2018).
Logan said, “If you Google ‘best online business programs,’ Alabama shows up. It’s legitimate and highly ranked. I was offered the opportunity to go to Monterey, California, at Naval Postgraduate School but declined and pursued a degree with Alabama. I have so much work experience with the military that when I thought about transitioning to a civilian career, I wanted something that would open a door to a different world. My degree from The University of Alabama and Manderson Graduate School of Business does that.”
Even though part-time study is available and recommended for most students who are working full time, Logan completed his coursework at a fast pace. He finished the 30-credit-hour program in just one year by taking three courses per semester and one over winter break. He now feels equipped to chart a new course for his career.
“This degree has set me up for success in the future whenever I leave the Navy, but it also has given me the opportunity to view things in more of a big picture way with a global perspective to understand what’s going on in business and the economy behind what most people see,” Logan said.
