This week, Americans everywhere will celebrate 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and cities across the U.S. are offering their own unique opportunities to mark such a historic milestone. From base events to port calls and community-wide festivals, these summer gatherings give military families a chance to take part in the semiquincentennial while honoring the service, history and traditions that have shaped our nation.

FSS Freedom 250 Fest (Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida)
Tyndall Air Force Base’s Force Support Squadron will host FSS Freedom 250 Fest at the Tyndall Marina on July 2, starting at 5 p.m. Families can expect a night of rides, games, a live DJ, face painting and more, followed by a fireworks show at 9 p.m.
Freedom 250 Celebration (Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado)
Peterson Space Force Base’s 21st Force Support Squadron will host the Freedom 250 Celebration at Captain David Lyon Memorial Park on July 2, starting at 10 a.m. This family-friendly event will feature free food, live music, a live DJ, inflatables, carnival rides, face painting, a balloon artist, lawn games and a historic vehicle display. America250 Celebration Weekend (Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia)
The National Museum of the Marine Corps will host an America250 Celebration Weekend near Marine Corps Base Quantico from July 2-5. All weekend, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., visitors can place an American flag in Semper Fidelis Memorial Park, with complimentary flags available while supplies last.
As part of the weekend, the museum’s Summer Concert Series will feature a special joint performance by the U.S. Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, “The Commandant’s Own,” and the U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps on July 2 at 7 p.m. The performance will feature music ranging from traditional patriotic tunes to contemporary works and pop hits. Concerts are held on the museum’s entry plaza, weather permitting, and guests are encouraged to bring seating.

250th Independence Day Celebration (Patrick Space Force Base, Florida)
Patrick Space Force Base’s 45th Force Support Squadron will host a 250th Independence Day Celebration at Warfit Field on July 2, starting at 4 p.m., with a firework show at 9:05 p.m. This family-friendly event will feature carnival rides, live entertainment, water slides, pay-as-you-go food and beverage, giveaways and open parking.
Front Range Freedom Fest (Fort Carson, Colorado)
USAG Fort Carson will host its Front Range Freedom Fest at Iron Horse Park on July 3 from 4-10 p.m. The family-friendly event includes live music headlined by Tyler Hubbard with two opening acts. Festival activities include the Boingo Adventure Zone, bounce houses, interactive attractions, games, food trucks and beverages for purchase. This is a cashless event, only accepting card and mobile payments.
Waterfront Independence Day Celebration (Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina)
South Carolina 250 Charleston will host a Waterfront Independence Day Celebration at Waterfront Park on July 4, starting at 4 p.m. The event will honor Charleston’s role in the American story with live music, patriotic tributes, cultural performances, community artists, and a fireworks show over Charleston Harbor at 9:40 p.m. Performances begin at 6 p.m. Check the event page for entertainment lineup.
America250 Block Party (Fort Campbell, Kentucky)
Fort Campbell will host an official America250 Block Party at the 101st Airborne Division Parade Field on July 4, starting at 1 p.m. The main entertainment will be a tribute concert featuring a Charlie Daniels hologram and live band. The event will feature other musical performances, including the 101st Airborne Division Band, a carnival and fireworks. The concert begins at 6 p.m., with fireworks following immediately afterward. Visitors are encouraged to bring seating, sunscreen, bug spray, and umbrellas for shade until 5 p.m.
Freedom Fest ’26 (Fort Knox, Kentucky)
Fort Knox will host Freedom Fest ’26 at Brooks Field on July 4 starting at 6 p.m. The event will feature inflatables, a variety of food and beverages for purchase, children’s activities and live music. Fort Knox’s 905th Military Working Dog Detachment will perform a demonstration at 7:30 p.m. A Salute to the Nation Ceremony at 9 p.m. followed by a firework display at 10 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to bring seating.
FreedomFest 1776–2026 (Fort Benning, Georgia)
The National Infantry Museum will host FreedomFest 1776-2026, a community-wide event on July 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will feature a lineup of live music, military displays, family activities, historic reenactors, food trucks and patriotic experiences, including a morning cannon firing and the national anthem. A clear bag policy is in effect, and visitors are encouraged to arrive early. Check the event page for museum policies.
4th of July Celebration (Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina)
Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune will host its 4th of July Celebration at W.P.T. Hill Field on July 4, starting at 4 p.m. The event will feature musical performances by Dylan Scott and Hot Chelle Rae, a family fun zone provided by MCCS and food and beverage for purchase. An area fireworks display is scheduled for 8:45 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to carpool.
4th of July Celebration 2026 (Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii)
Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam will host its 4th of July Celebration at Ward Field on July 4, starting at 4 p.m. The event will feature free activities, including a petting zoo, flower Lei making and Polynesian tattoo stamps. Food and beverage options will be available along with live music, including a performance by the Air Force Band of the Pacific.
